Stabilized poppy seed

We started producing poppy-seed fillings as semi-finished products for baking industry as early as in 1995 shortly after the formation of our company. As poppy seeds are a very sensitive material in terms of processing and storage, we had a prototype of a machine made by a Czech engineering company which enables treatment preventing poppy seeds from going rancid and bitter. The production formerly took place in lots and was rather time-consuming as well as demanding. However, its principle of hydrothermic treatment was a good basis for further improvement of the treatment process.

Current situation:

The poppy seed stabilization process has been improved not only on the basis of our own long-standing experience and experimenting with its storage, but also through cooperation with experts at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague (VŠCHT). We now use a recently assembled continuous production line with several times higher performance to treat the poppy seeds. However, the principle stays the same – hydrothermic treatment which significantly reduces microbiological contamination of the product. Further, some more elements were added in the process which enable elimination of undesirable smells and alien aromas and help standardize the amount of moisture in the product. Thus we are able to ensure the most important thing – long shelf-life of poppy seeds while preserving its natural taste and aroma. The process is terminated by continuous inspection of poppy seed moisture.

We use solely poppy seeds processed in this way for our fillings and we offer our business partners certainty that our loose mix – poppy seed filling – will maintain its typical sweetish taste and smell during its entire shelf-life.
